別 桃 笑 問　　山
有 花 而 余　　中
天 流 不 何　　問
地 水 答 意　　答
非 杳 心 棲　　　
人 然 自 碧　　　
間 去 閑 山　　　








山中問答

　余に問う　何の意ぞ碧山(ヘキザン)に棲(ス)む
　笑って答えず　心自ずから閑(カン)なり
　桃花(トウカ)流水　杳然(ヨウゼン)と去り
　別に天地の人間(ジンカン)に非(アラ)ざる有り

【碧山】青い山
【棲む】住む
【閑】　静か、のどか
【杳然】はるかに遠いさま
【人間】人の世、世間





A dialogue in the mountain    


You ask me why              
    I live in blue mountain.
A smile and no reply-       
    my heart is calm.       
Peach petals, flowing water 
    are going away.         
Another heaven and earth    
    behind from the world.
